Following up on the huge success that was Terra Comunal, held last year by the Marina Abramović Institute (MAI) with Sesc Pompeia and Luciana Brito Galeria, MAI now joins forces with Greek organization NEON to present a similar initiative at the Benaki Museum, in Athens: As One, which comprises a participatory project for the public based on the Abramović Method, in conjunction with a parallel programme of Performance and Immaterial Art called NEON-MAI Lab

The Abramović Method is a series of exercises designed by Marina Abramović to engage the public with participatory experiences. The Method draws upon a huge reservoir of the artist’s experiences, performances and practice over the last 40 years that is gradually being distilled into a series of exercises that explore boundaries of body and mind.

The NEON-MAI Lab, by its turn, is an original programme of parallel events, including performances, workshops and talks. Greek artists selected by Marina Abramović and the curatorial team have been commissioned to create new works for the project. Selected following an open call, their proposals were developed in collaboration with MAI. The programme of long durational performances also includes works by international performance artists: Grupo Empreza (Brazil), Maria Herranz (Switzerland), Amanda Coogan (Ireland) and Kira O’Reilly (UK).

The project happens from March 10 to April 24, 2016. For more information, please visit NEON’s website.
