Pablo Lobato in a conversation with Clarissa Diniz, 2021
“Graças a Dedos” is the title of the third exhibition by the visual artist from Minas Gerais Pablo Lobato at Luciana Brito Galeria. Just before the installing of the artworks into space, the curator Clarissa Diniz was invited for a virtual conversation with the artist. The conversation resulted in a video, conceived as a critical text.
Other images were added to the editing of this material, both from the exhibition space and from the processes of making the works. The editing corresponds to the delicacy of the gesture used by the artist in his production and to the understanding of the autonomy of the materials used in the works. The video also includes the textures and formats, which, interspersed with the speeches, contextualize the concepts worked by Lobato in the works featured in the show “Graças a Dedos”.
Clarissa Diniz is a curator, writer and educator, and has been following Pablo Lobato's work for some time. Both have been friends for more than ten years and have even worked together on some occasions, such as in the editorial residency projects of the magazine Tatui nº 10 and nº 13 (2010 and 2011), conceived by Clarissa and carried out in Olinda and Porto Alegre (2010 and 2011); “Ambiguações”, curated by Clarissa Diniz, at CCBB-RJ (2013); in addition to a solo exhibition by the artist, “Da Natureza das Coisas – Pablo Lobato”, at MAR – Museu de Arte do Rio (2016), also curated by Clarissa.
